Billy Donovan got his 400th career coaching win on Monday night in Orlando, but it wasn't always easy despite what the final score may indicate. The Gators won 96-70 at Amway Arena but a 12-0 Stetson run cut their lead to single digits late in the first half. Facing a 2-3 zone for much of the night, the Gators launched 35 three pointers, hitting 14 of them for 40% from downtown. Leading the way from downtown was Brad Beal, who hit five three pointers en route to a game high 22 points. The freshman phenom also added 10 boards, a career high and impressive feat for the guard out of St. Louis.
Erving Walker added 21 points for the Gators, going three of eight from downtown and dishing a game high six assists. Florida's third guard, Kenny Boynton added 13 and forward Will Yeguete chipped in with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 boards. Despite the occasional first half sleepwalk, it was a good way to celebrate Donovan's 400th and a nice warmup for the Gators, who will now face number three ranked Syracuse on Friday at the Carrier Dome.
