2011 NFL Standings: Buccaneers, Jaguars Sit In Third Place In Respective Divisions

The Buccaneers and Jaguars are very different teams playing at much different levels, but thanks to a difference in competition, they each sit in third place in their respective divisions.

Even if you've already had your bye week, every team in the NFL has now played through half their games. So this is as good a time as any to check in on the standings for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and guess what, they're in just about the same spot in their respective divisions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 4-4 on the year and are sitting at third place in the NFC South. The Saints hold the top spot with a 6-3 record, while the Falcons are a half game back at 5-3. Those two teams will face off next week in a game that could go a long way in deciding the Division. The Bucs could be one game back by this time next week if they win against the Texans next week and the Falcons take care of the Saints. The Panthers, well they're bringing up the rear at 2-6. Better luck next year.

The Jaguars are also 2-6, but since they share a Division with the 0-9 Indianapolis Colts, they also find themselves in third place. The Houston Texans are leading the Division at 6-3 in what may prove to finally be their year. Their closest competitor is the Tennessee Titans but I don't think that they really scare anyone.
