The Atlanta Falcons marched right down the field on their opening drive to take a 7-0 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Electing to take the kick off, and with the Georgia Dome crowd in a frenzy, Matt Ryan led the Falcons on a seven play, 75 yard drive that took only four minutes.
Julio Jones finished the drive an an easy pitch and catch from Ryan. Confusion in the depleted Jacksonville secondary left Jones wide open on a short crossing pattern in the middle of the field. Jones took the short pass, found a seam, and burst 29 yards straight into the end zone. The Jags second level presented little to no resistance as Jones walked in for the 7-0 lead.
The Atlanta offense was in high gear, with Michael Turner carrying the ball three times for 18 yards. He led it off with two quick powerful runs up the middle. Ryan took it from there, going four for four on the drive. It was an easy march for Atlanta and a discouraging start for the Jaguars defense.
