The Tampa Bay Lightning and Philadelphia Flyers are tied 1-1 after the first period of their Tuesday night matchup at St. Pete Times Forum. Tampa Bay is looking to avenge a 5-2 loss earlier this month in Philly, and set the tone early with an opening goal by Bruno Gervais. Adam Hall fed Gervais about ten minutes into the first quarter as he beat Ilya Bryzgalov for the 1-0 lead.
The Flyers peppered Lightning goalie Mathieu Garon for much of the first twenty minutes, outshooting the Bolts 17 to four. Philly finally broke through with a little less than two minutes remaining as Scott Hartnell blasted one past Garon to even it up. Hartnell was assisted by the dynamic Claude Giroux, who's coming back from a concussion injury this month.
The Bolts will have to get more shots on net in the second period if they are to stay in this one with the high-powered Flyers.
