FIU Golden Panthers Selected For 2011 Beef O' Brady's Bowl

The FIU Golden Panthers have accepted a bid for their second ever bowl game, to play in the Beef O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg.

The Florida International Golden Panthers have been selected for the 2011 Beef O' Brady's Bowl. This will be the Panthers second ever bowl game. The Panthers will face a team selected from Conference USA to be named sometime tomorrow. The Panthers filled the typical slot that is usually reserved for a Big East school, but FIU will get to make the short trip from Miami to the bowl game.

"On behalf of our great university, it is with great excitement that our football program accepts this bid to the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl," said FIU Head Coach Mario Cristobal. "2011 has been another historical season for our program, and playing in a bowl right here in our home state is a tremendous opportunity for our student athletes and fans."

FIU posted a school-record eight wins in the 2011 season, including a road victory over the Co-Big East Champions, the Louisville Cardinals. The Beef O' Brady's Bowl was first played in 2008 and has been played annually at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
