Ever since the lockout officially ended, the focus of a lot of NBA fans has shifted to the futures of Chris Paul and Dwight Howard; both free agents after this season and allegedly with an intent to play together wherever they may land. According to our Orlando Magic blog, Orlando Pinstripe Post, the Lakers and Clippers might be trying to get both of those players on the same team before the season even begins.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers intend to aggressively pursue Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul via trade, reports Chris Broussard of ESPN. The Lakers "hop[e] to pull off a pair of blockbuster moves that would rock the NBA," Broussard says, in acquiring its top center and top point guard, and have made everyone on their roster outside of Kobe Bryant available in trade discussions. "It is not clear whether they have spoken with Orlando," according to the report.
As they point out later, it doesn't seem like either of those teams have enough assets in the cabinet to get both of tose players. One, maybe, but it would be difficult to get both on the same team.
