Shane Battier had a lot of suitors this offseason, and has been spending the last few days widdling down his potential choices. But this morning, he announced, (sort of) via twitter that he will sign with the Miami Heat.
That tweet was later backed up by Inside Hoops.
Battier is a very good player and will be a nice backup for LeBron James, but you have to wonder why the Heat spent the little money they have for a backup at a position where he might play just a few minutes a game in games that count. I'm sure he will be reliable when the team wants to rest James during the shortened season, but one would imagine the Heat would have been better upgrading their two vulnerable positions, center and point guard.
