NCAA Tournament 2011: Florida State Women's Team Gets No. 3 Seed

While the Florida State men's basketball team only received a No. 10 seeding and isn't expected to last more than a round or two in the NCAA Tournament, the women Seminoles are gearing up for a long March. Yesterday, they received confirmation that they'll be playing in their seventh straight NCAA Tournament, as a No. 3 seed for the second year in a row.

The Seminoles went 23-7 this season, and will match up against Samford (25-7) in the first round on Sunday night (5:15 PM). While the Seminoles made it into the Elite Eight last season, this year they've got some stiff competition as they'll likely need to beat No. 2 Texas A&M in order to advance that far.

Unlike last season when UConn was the consensus favorite, there is no one team that stands out from the pack in this year's women's tournament. All four No. 1 seeds - UConn, Baylor, Stanford, and Tennessee - are strong teams and could conceivably win the tournament.

Three other Florida teams made the dance: Miami (No. 3, Dayton Region), UCF (No. 13, Dayton Region), and Stetson (No. 16, Dayton Region). For a full bracket of the tournament, be sure to check out the NCAA's official website.
