The Rays have been no strangers to no-hitters and perfect games, having been on the unpleasant of several since 2008. The Orioles starter, Chris Tillman took a no hitter through the sixth inning against the Rays today. However, the Rays patience at the plate and ability to work three walks helped to push Tillman from the game.
Then, with two outs in the 7th inning and Jeremy Accardo pitching, B.J. Upton lined a ball into center field for the Rays first hit of the day. Unfortunately, on an aggressive baserunning play on a Kelly Shoppach single, Felix Pie threw Upton out trying to score at home.
In the bottom of the 7th, Jake McGee came in to face Brian Roberts with two men on, and Roberts turned a 92 mph fastball into a home run, giving the Orioles a late 3-0.
