FC Tampa Bay Goalkeeper Daryl Sattler Out For Season with Torn ACL

Daryl Sattler, the anchor of the FC Tampa Bay defense for two seasons, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2011 season with a torn ACL.

Sattler, the NASL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3, was involved in a collision with an Atlanta Silverbacks attacker in the 10th minute of Saturday’s game. That collision involved Sattler’s knee rolling onto itself as he hit the ground. Sattler, 30, is in his final year of a two year contract.

Stepping between the posts now will be rookie Jeff Attinella. Attinella, a USF graduate and Clearwater native, was a first-team NCAA All-American in 2009. Stepping into Saturday’s game after Sattler’s injury and making his professional debut, Attinella made three saves an allowed a stoppage time goal at the end of the first half.
