2011 All-Star Game: David Price, James Shields, And Matt Joyce To Represent Rays

For the fourth year in a row, the Tampa Bay Rays will have at least three representatives in the All-Star Game. Ever since the Rays became competitive in 2008, they have always had multiple representative in the ASG, and they had four players elected to the All-Star Game in 2009 and 2010. This season, the Rays are represented by David Price, James Shields, and Matt Joyce.

The All-Star Game is scheduled for 8:00 PM tonight, and will feature an opening pitching matchup of Roy Halladay versus Jered Weaver. Both James Shields and David Price will likely pitch later in the game, but it's difficult to say how Matt Joyce will be worked into the lineup. There is a large number of players on the All-Star rosters this season, and it could be difficult for him to get an at bat during the game.

Of course, that doesn't seem to bother him -- Matt Joyce is having a grand ol' time at the All-Star Game, regardless of if he's sitting the bench or not. It's a nice reminder that as much as us fans love to deride the All-Star Game as a meaningless exhibition, the players still view it as a huge honor.
