Twitter is awesome. It's one of those things that seems so weird at first -- "Why do I want to read about every little thing a person is doing???" -- but it's incredibly addicting once you get into it. It's essentially a giant forum - a wide open space where conversations on all sorts of subjects continue all day long. Want to talk about the Rays with a huge collection of fellow fans? Without fail, you can find a conversation on the Rays on Twitter any time of the day.
Not only that, but Twitter allows you to interact with a collection of people you may never have gotten a chance to interact with otherwise: coaches, professional writers, athletes, etc. You're given a direct line to reach each of these people, which essentially acts as a backstage pass. What sort of stuff does David Price think about in his spare time? What videos games does B.J. Upton play? On Twitter, the players descend from their thrones and become humanized.
And so, I've decided to start a three-part series on important Twitter feeds to follow if you're a fan of any Tampa Bay sports team. In the first part (this post), I'll list the Twitter handles of writers at each of the SB Nation blogs about the local teams -- DRaysBay, Raw Charge, Bucs Nation, and Voodoo Five. These are a collection of great blogs and there are talented writers at each of them, and I can't recommend their work enough.
In parts two and three, I'll focus on Tampa Bay athletes and on members of the local media that follow the teams closely. By the end, I'm hoping it'll be a pretty comprehensive list that'll be useful for both new and experienced Tweeters. Enjoy!
