The 163rd game that the Red Sox and Rays would have to play against each other if they remain tied by the end of the day is not certain, but the Sox seem to be re-loading as if it were. Even though the trade deadline came and went months ago, players can still be dealt through the waiver process, and the Red Sox are looking for some starting pitching before a playoff, if it gets that far. According to Aaron Gleeman of NBC Sports, they are targetting Royals starter Bruce Chen.

One thing they point out that may be a potential sticking point is that Chen is scheduled to be a Type B free agent, which means the Royals will get a draft pick in return for him. That means the Sox will probably have to send something other than cash.
