2012 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper Has Jacksonville Jaguars Selecting Quinton Coples

The Jacksonville Jaguars own the No. 7 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and with it they should select North Carolina Tar Heels defensive end Quinton Coples, says ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. in his first NFL mock draft.

Defensive end as well as wide receiver is certainly a huge need for the Jaguars, who've been trying to find a steady pass rush since Tony Brackens was forced to retire due to injuries. Coples is rated as the 2012 NFL Draft's top 4-3 defensive end and has great size at 6-foot-6. Coples also possesses the ability to rush the passer from the inside.

The concern with Coples however is he's not necessarily a speed rusher off the edge and doesn't quite have the athleticism of Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers, whom Coples is often compared to.
