After an exciting first half of the Capital One Bowl, neither the South Carolina Gamecocks nor the Nebraska Cornhuskers scored in the third quarter, and South Carolina still holds a 16-13 lead. But the third quarter wasn't without excitement, as Gamecocks receiver Alshon Jeffery and 'Huskers cornerback Alfonzo Dennard were ejected for fighting. Here's the video:
On a third-and-six for South Carolina, Nebraska bottled up all of Connor Shaw's receiving options, resulting in a sack. On the play, Dennard and Jeffery got tangled up with one another. The NFL prospects began exchanging words, and then punches, resulting in offsetting personal-foul penalties and ejections for both players.
Jeffery gave the Gamecocks the lead at the end of the first half, hauling in a 51-yard hail Mary pass from Shaw on the finalplay from scrimmage. He finished with four catches for 148 yards and a touchdown.
