After falling behind 10 after the first quarter in the 2012 East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, the West squad stormed back to take 14-10 lead before a late East touchdown made the score 17-14 as the teams went to the locker rooms at halftime.
The West team scored its first points of the day on a one-yard run from Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Harnish with 10:03 left in the second quarter. Minutes later, Colorado quarterback Tyler Hansen scored on a 3-yard scamper to give his team the lead.
The East team retook the lead, however, on a 3-yard pass from Southern Mississippi quarterback Austin Davis to Miami receiver LaRon Byrd with 20 second remaining, and that's how the teams went into the break.
Hansen now leads the West squad with 49 yards on 4-4 passing. USC's Marc Tyler remains the team's leading rusher with 29 yards on four carries and N.C. State's George Bryan is the West's leading receiver with 25 yards on his only reception.
B.J. Coleman is still the East's leading passer with 136 yards and a touchdown on 6-6 passing. Miami's Chase Ford is now the team's receiver with 64 yards on his only catch and Tauren Poole remains the leading rusher with 17 yards on three carries.
