NBA Trade Rumors: Orlando Magic Inquire About Trading Dwight Howard For New York Knicks' Ama're Stoudemire And Tyson Chandler, According To Report

The trade rumors surrounding Dwight Howard continued on Monday afternoon, with the latest speculation that Otis Smith and the Orlando Magic have inquired with the New York Knicks about trading the franchise center for Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith sparked the rumor, speaking on a New York radio station.

Via ESPNNewYork.com:

"I will preface my statement by telling you that [the Magic] have categorically denied this, but my sources tell me that they have inquired about Tyson Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire going to Orlando for Dwight Howard."

This latest rumor seems to be pretty far-fetched, but it is just another distraction in a season of persistent trade speculation centered on Howard. The Knicks are currently in freefall, losing their last six games and prompting questions about the ability of Carmelo Anthony and Stoudemire to coexist. But according to previous reports, New York is not a potential destination, with Smith granting Howard's agent permission to talk to the Nets, Mavericks, and Lakers about a deal.
