Florida Atlantic is a 23-point underdog this Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. The Owls, whose only win this year came against an FCS opponent, have to figure out some way to hang with a WarHawks team that shocked the nation with a road win over Arkansas.
And while their win over the Razorbacks drew the most headlines, their narrow losses at Auburn and against Baylor may have been even more impressive, as ULM wasn't sneaking up on either team.
The WarHawks lost both games by a combined total of eight points, and if only a few late-game plays in those games had changed, they could be undefeated and looking to sneak into BCS contention.
Meanwhile, FAU has struggled mightily in Carl Pelini's first year as the head coach, as Howard Schnellenberger left the program in pretty poor shape with a 1-11 mark in 2011.
For Owls fans, the best they may be able to hope for on Saturday is keeping the final margin of defeat respectable.
