South Florida vs. Louisville 2012: Cardinals lead Bulls 7-3 after 1st

The No. 16 Louisville Cardinals lead the South Florida Bulls early in the second quarter at Louisville's Papa John's Stadium.

South Florida scored the first points of the contest during their opening drive, with Maikon Bonani hitting a 36-yard field goal to cap a 10-play, 71-yard drive. Since that score, the remainder of the first quarter was a virtual stalemate, with both teams having difficulty converting third downs to sustain drives.

Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater is perfect on the afternoon thus far, completing all five of his passes for 48 yards. He also leads the Cardinals in rushing with 31 yards on three attempts through the early portion of the game. South Florida has not been as successful on offense, gaining just 65 yards over the first few drives.

Louisville did score a touchdown to open the second quarter, as Senorise Perry punched the ball in on a 4th-and-goal situation from 1 yard out.
