NCAA Football Rankings, Week 9: Florida gets a first-place vote, Florida State moves up

Florida's 44-11 win over South Carolina was impressive enough to earn the Gators a single first-place vote in the AP Top 25 Poll, and Florida State moved up to No. 11

After the Florida Gators trounced South Carolina on Saturday to take charge in the SEC east race, their 44-11 win was impressive enough to garner Will Muschamp's team a single first-place vote in the AP Top 25.

But even though the Gators pounded a top-ten foe, Oregon was able to hang onto the number two ranking ahead of the Gators due to the Ducks' dominant victory over Arizona State on Thursday night.

Because Florida's win over the Gamecocks dropped South Carolina from No. 9 to No. 17, Florida State was able to move up one spot to 11th place in the AP poll.

The Seminoles put up an impressive performance for the second week in a row, breezing past Miami with a 33-20 win to regain the lead in the ACC Atlantic division race.

Florida now heads into another high-stakes game against No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, where a win would assure the Gators' a spot in the SEC title game. Meanwhile, Florida State will tangle with the surprising (and bowl-eligible) Duke Blue Devils on Saturday.
