Florida Monthly MMA Planner: November

If you want to catch some live martial arts action in the Sunshine State this coming month and want to make your plans, then SB Nation Tampa Bay has you covered with a list of martial art events in the coming month.

Starting the month off with a bang is Fight Time Promotions, which is running a show November 2nd out of War Memorial Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Run by American Top Team head boxing coach Howard Davis Jr, Fight Time Promotions is meant to help develop local prospects and get them connections they can use to the further their careers.

Fight Time 12 "Warriors Collide" will feature one such prospect, Mike Bruno (11-4) of American Top Team, who will be taking on Vagner Rocha (7-3). Bruno is well rounded, expected of an ATT fighter as he access to some of the best coaching the country. Rocha is a UFC veteran and BJJ specialist, training with Pablo Popovich at Fort Lauderdale. There appears to be genuine dislike between these two and on top of that they are fighting for the Welterweight title of the promotion. Mike's older brother Steven Bruno, a UFC veteran, is also fighting on the card. It promises to be an exciting event and certainly will scratch any live fight itch an MMA fan might have during a relatively slow month.

On November 9th Bellator comes to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. While the fight card isn't fully set yet it will feature former Bellator Featherweight champion Joe Warren (7-3), and WEC veteran Wagnney Fabiano (15-3) facing Bellator stand out Rad Martinez (13-2). A full preview will be released when the entire card is announced but Bellator normally fills their undercards with local fighters, so expect an abundance of Florida fighters on this card.

If submission grappling appeals to you, Coral Springs will play host to the Grappler's Quest 2012 Southeast Grappling Championships on November 10th and if competing interests you more than spectating, registration is still open. Grapplers Quest tends to draw a high level of competitor for their pro level divisions and last year this event drew grapplers from top level gyms up and down the east coast. Divisions start at 8am.
