The Miami Heat begin their title defense against the Celtics.

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The NBA season gets underway on Tuesday, as the Miami Heat begin their title defense in a revamped NBA landscape, one that has changed right up until the season's start.

The Heat and LeBron James will open with the Boston Celtics at home on Tuesday, in a primetime matchup that is sure to attract the attention of the country. The Heat and Celtics clashed in a fascinating Eastern Conference Finals on the Heat's way to the 2012 NBA Finals and an eventual victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Also tipping off on Tuesday are the new-look Los Angeles Lakers, a team many believe could be a threat to make the NBA Finals this season, on the strength of a reinvigorated lineup that now features both Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to go with Kobe Bryant.

The Orlando Magic will not tip off their season until Friday, when they take on the Denver Nuggets at home.
