The Owls and Bulls each registered a touchdown, while Temple was unable to convert on its extra point attempt and also tacked on a field goal at the end of the half.
Owls' quarterback Chris Coyer put Temple on the board first on a 24-yard rushing touchdown with 8:38 remaining in the first quarter. Coyer is also 10-of-12 passing for 102 yards in the game.
Quarterback B.J. Daniels responded for South Florida nearly five minutes later with a passing touchdown to Lindsey Lamar for 24 yards.
After forcing a Bulls punt late in the second quarter, Temple drove down the field in eight plays for 45 yards in 1:27 before Owls kicker Brandon McManus converted a 50-yard field goal to give Temple the lead.
There has been only one penalty by the Owls and one turnover, a lost fumble by South Florida, so far in the contest.
