The Florida State Seminoles lead the N.C. State Wolfpack, 16-0, after the first half of play from Raleigh. The FSU defense has been in fine form, and the score could be much more lopsided if the Seminoles didn't have to settle for three field goals.
Florida State opened the scoring with a Dustin Hopkins 49-yard field goal midway through the first quarter. The Seminoles started the scoring drive at midfield, and a 21-yard Chris Thompson run put them inside of field goal range. When the drive stalled three plays later, Hopkins put FSU up, 3-0.
The 'Noles added to the lead the next time they got the ball, as Nick O'Leary caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from E.J. Manuel to make it 10-0. The 13 play drive covered 80 yards and was highlighted by completions of over 20 yards to Thompson and Rashad Greene.
Hopkins added a pair of field goals to close the first half scoring, connecting from 20 and 36 yards out. The Seminoles have held N.C. State to just 68 yards of offense in the first half, and have given up only four first downs. Florida State kicked off to start the game, so they'll be receiving the kick to start the second half.
