South Alabama 76, Florida State 71: It's a pretty fair to assume the Florida State Seminoles aren't going to be ranked when the new polls come out. The No. 25 team in the land fell 76-71 to the South Alabama Jaguars on Friday night in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Antonie Allen poured in 21 points to lead all scorers for South Alabama, while nobody scored more than 11 points for Florida State in the shocking defeat.

Miami (FL) 87, Stetson 79: In what was a tighter game than most expected, the Miami Hurricanes beat the Stetson Hatters 87-79.

The game was tied after the first half before the Hurricanes turned it on, finally pulling away on the strength of Reggie Johnson and Kenny Kadji. Johnson had 22 points and 11 rebounds while Kadji had 12 points and as many rebounds.

Georgia 68, Jacksonville 62: Despite a fine effort, the Jacksonville Dolphins couldn't beat the SEC's Georgia Bulldogs.

The Dolphins were paced by guard Keith McDougald, who scored 13 points on the evening. Nemanja Djurisic led Georgia to the win with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Houston 81, Florida A&M 76: The Florida A&M Rattlers came up a bit short in their season opener, losing to the Houston Cougars.

Leon Gibson scored a game-high 20 points and Jherrod Stiggers added 19 of his own for the Cougars en route to victory. The Rattlers were led by Reggie Lewis, who poured in 18 points to accompany five assists in the loss.
