As expected, No. 11 North Carolina had no problems with Florida Atlantic on Sunday at the Dean Dome. James Michael McAdoo was outstanding, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the Tar Heels to an easy 80-46 win over the Owls.

North Carolina held a comfortable lead for much of the game, even if the Tarheels weren't able to turn the game into a laugher until the end of the contest. Reggie Bullock added 16 points to compliment McAdoo's outstanding game as North Carolina improved to 2-0 on the season.

McAdoo was similarly outstanding in UNC's opening win over Gardner Webb, when he had 26 points and 14 rebounds. All of that promise and potential appears to be emerging for McAdoo, who is expected to lead the Tar Heels this season after they lost four players to the NBA Draft.

While the Tar Heels did well on the offensive end, led by McAdoo, they were even better defensively. With the exception of Greg Gantt, who scored 18 points for the Owls, nobody else could get going and UNC held FAU to just 28 percent shooting.

After taking a 32-24 lead into halftime, the Tar Heels started the second half quickly and ran away with the game from there.

North Carolina still does have one major concern as it heads out on the road for five games, which includes the Maui Invitational and a trip to No. 1 Indiana -- free throws. The Tar Heels shot just 44 percent from the line against FAU after going 9-for-19 in their season opener.
