Conference USA Football Standings 2012: Knights in control of East division

The UCF Knights are in control of the East division and are close to making a date to the conference title game

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

With the season dwindling to an end, the UCF Knights remain in control of Conference USA's East division and are close to making a date to the conference title game against the winner of the West division.

The Knights' perfect 6-0 record in conference play is one game better than the only team within striking distance in the division, which would be East Carolina at 5-1. However, because the Knights have already defeated East Carolina this season, they own the tiebreaker over them and would win the division if the two teams end up with the same record.

UCF can win the division with one win in their next two games, or an East Carolina conference loss would also give the Knights the rights to the division.

The winner of the East division will take on the winner of the West division in the conference title game. Tulsa has a stranglehold on the West with their prefect 6-0 record and the second best team having two losses.
