It was a relatively quiet night for college basketball in Florida, with only the Florida Gators and North Florida Ospreys in action.
The No. 10 Gators dominated the No. 22 Wisconsin Badgers, 74-56, at the O'Connell Center on Wednesday night. The Gators moved to 2-0 on the young season with the victory.
Florida jumped out to a 12-point lead at halftime and never looked back, cruising the rest of the way. The Gators shot 61.9 percent from the field and won the rebound battle, 39-21. Erik Murphy made all 10 of his shots en route to 24 points. Murphy also pulled down eight rebounds, tied with Will Yequette for the team high.
North Florida fell to the Savannah State Tigers, 54-47, after falling apart in the second half. The Ospreys led 31-22 at halftime, but scored just 16 points after the break. The collapse dropped North Florida to 1-2 on the year.
