The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play for their fourth straight win when they meet the Carolina Panthers Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
After a 2-4 start to the season, the Bucs (5-4) have won three straight games against the Vikings, Raiders and Chargers. During that stretch, the Tampa Bay offense has become one of the best in the NFL, averaging 37.3 points per game. Quarterback Josh Freeman has been stellar in the last three games, completing 59 percent of his passes for 719 yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions.
The Panthers (2-7) are coming off a 36-14 trouncing at the hands of the Denver Broncos. Against Denver, second-year quarterback Cam Newton completed 21 of 36 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Newton has endured a disappointing sophomore campaign. He has completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 2,143 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight picks. Newton has 63 rushes for 354 yards, four touchdowns and three lost fumbles in 2012.
