In an attempt to jump-start the offense, Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey announced Monday that quarterback Chad Henne will start Jacksonville's Week 12 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Henne will start in place of Blaine Gabbert, who suffered an elbow injury on the Jaguars' first drive against the Houston Texans last Sunday. Henne played the rest of the game and compiled some impressive numbers: 16-of-33 passing for 354 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. The 1-9 Jaguars pushed the 9-1 Texans to overtime before falling, 43-37.
According to Mularkey, Gabbert is listed as "questionable" for Week 12, but Henne is getting the start based on his performance against Houston, not Gabbert's injury. Gabbert has struggled this season, completing 58 percent of his passes for 1,662 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions. The Jaguars selected him 10th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, and his rookie campaign wasn't much better. Last season, Gabbert completed 50.8 percent of his passes for 2,214 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
The Jaguars and Titans meet Sunday, Nov. 25 at Jacksonville's EverBank Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on CBS.
