Saturday features men's college basketball action across Florida. Times and television coverage (where available) for all the local action is below. All times are Eastern.
Detroit Titans at Miami Hurricanes
The 2-1 Hurricanes can make sure they get off to a good start before No. 15 Michigan State comes to town, but they'll need to step it up on offense. They're averaging just 70.3 points per game, which likely won't be enough to keep up with the Titans, who average 82.3
Tip-off is 2 p.m. with television coverage provided by ESPN3.
Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at St. John's Red Storm
St. John's generally holds their own in the Big East, so the Eagles will have their work cut out for them when they visit Queens. Senior Sherwood Brown is averaging 14.3 points per game for the Eagles, and sophomore Bernard Thompson is averaging 13.8. Phil Greene IV and D'Angelo Harrison are the starting point guard duo for the Red Storm and should challenge the Eagles all night.
Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. and television coverage is provided by ESPN3.
American U. Eagles at Florida Atlantic Owls
The Owls are off to a rough start and have lost three of their first four. They have a chance to turn things around on Saturday when they face American U, who are averaging only 53 points per night. The Owls have hit that number in all four of their games, so a focused effort should put the Eagles away.
Tip-off is 1 p.m.
Florida A&M Rattlers at Presbyterian Blue Hose
At 0-5, the Rattlers are off to a rough start, including losing in the opening round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. They face the Blue Hose in a consolation match. Presbyterian averages just 45.3 points per game, so this might be FAMU's best opportunity to get their feet under them.
Tip-off is 12 p.m.
Jacksonville Dolphins vs Wis.-Milwaukee Panthers
After opening the season 2-2, the Dolphins are on a two-game skid. That includes their opening round in the Hoops for Hope Classic at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, but they can rebound against the 2-2 Panthers. The two teams are close on offense and on field goal percentage, so expect a scrap. Containing Jordan Aaron will be Jacksonville's biggest challenge. The Junior is averaging 19 points per game for the Panthers.
Tip-off is 4:30 p.m.
Florida International Golden Panthers at Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
The Panthers are 0-2 to start their season, and contending with the Coastal Carolina offense is a big test for the team. The 2-2 Chanticleers aren't setting the world on fire, but Anthony Raffa is averaging 24 points per game, and the team averages 77.8, putting up 96 in its win over Johnson & Wales.
Tip-off is 7 p.m.
The Wildcats are 2-3 after a win over the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic. They face host team Valaparaiso next, who have won two straight. Senior Kevin Dukes and junior Adrien Coleman are driving the Wildcat offense, combining to average 28.1 points per game, and the team will need that and more to keep up with Valparaiso.
Tip-off is 8 p.m.
