Six New England Patriots sat out practice Wednesday, according to ESPN. Tight end Rob Gronkowski (forearm/hip), guard Dan Connolly (back), guard Logan Mankins (ankle/calf), tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/knee), offensive lineman Markus Zusevics (illness) and defensive end Chandler Jones (ankle) did not participate. Twelve other players were listed as being limited participants.
Gronkowski continues to recover from surgery on the forearm he injured in a blowout win over Indianapolis on November 18. Jones also injured his ankle in that game. Connolly and Mankins continue to nurse injuries they suffered on November 11 against Buffalo. Vollmer injured his ankle in early October and had back surgery in the offseason. Zusevics, lastly, was recently placed back on the active roster.
Among those listed as "limited" participants were wide receivers Julian Edelman and Matthew Slater. Both players were listed with concussions. ESPN reports that Edelman left Thursday's victory over the Jets with a head injury.
