Florida State vs. Virginia Tech 2012: Seminoles want to exorcise road demons

The Seminoles hope to amp up their offensive production against the Hokies.

Florida State has been lights out at home this year, but has struggled on the road. That's a trend the Seminoles hope to reverse Thursday night as they travel to Lane Stadium to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies. The 'Noles will need a solid road effort in the game if they want to continue to control their own destiny in the ACC Atlantic Division race.

Florida State has struggled offensively on the road this season, scoring just six offensive touchdowns away from home, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. In contrast, they've scored at least six offensive touchdowns in each game at Doak Campbell Stadium.

"I think what we’ve done at home is just have quick starts," FSU quarterback EJ Manuel said. "Whether it’s on offense or defense or special teams. Like we had a big return, like a kickoff return or a punt return, to give us a spark. So if we can get that going up there in Blacksburg that would be huge for us."

It could be tough for the Seminoles to reverse their offensive woes against the Hokies. Virginia Tech has the highest-ranked defense (40th) that Florida State has seen so far this season.
