Sugar Bowl Odds: Florida heavy favorites over Louisville

The Gator defense has put on some great performances in 2012, and most expect them to do the same against Teddy Bridgewater's team.

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The latest odds in the 2013 Sugar Bowl matchup between the Florida Gators and the Louisville Cardinals have the Gators as 13.5-point favorites. The Gators were 11-1 in the regular season, not far ahead of the 10-2 Cardinals, but an SEC schedule comes with a different degree of difficulty than one in the Big East. Florida has the advantage in virtually every category, with Louisville coming out ahead only in points scored (31 per game to Florida's 26.8) and in passing yards (298.6 per game to Florida's 143.9).

The total for the game is expected to be 45.5 points. The Gators have hit that number in five of their 12 games, while the Cardinals have combined with opponents to score at least 45.5 eight times in the regular season. Florida's defense is expected to have a significant edge over Louisville's offense, but Teddy Bridgewater has put together a few surprises for Louisville this year.
