The Miami Hurricanes handed the Charlotte 49ers their first loss of the season on Friday night in a 77-46 rout at BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
Kenny Kadji led the Hurricanes in scoring with 17 points, while Durand Scott added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Miami (6-1) jumped out to an 11-point lead at halftime before really turning it on in the second half, outscoring Charlotte (9-1) down the stretch, 44-24.
Elsewhere, the UCF Knights held on to beat the struggling Old Dominion Monarchs (1-9) on the road, 75-71, at Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Va. Calvin Newell Jr. paced the Knights (6-2) with 17 points, while Isaiah Sykes added 14 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Old Dominion's Aaron Bacote led all scorers with 19 points in the losing effort.
The Hurricanes and Knights will square off on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at UCF Arena in Orlando, Fla. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
