On Saturday, No. 5 Florida fell to No. 8 Arizona, falling just short of their bid to go 8-0 on the season. That game was 65-64 in favor of Arizona, and Florida is now 1-1 on the road. Mike Rosario had 16 points and Erik Murphy had 15 of his own, but it wasn't enough to put them past the Wildcats.
That was just one game for the region on Saturday, though. Unfortunately, Florida as a whole didn't do very well on the court that day.
Florida A&M fell to 4-7 on the season on the wrong side of an 80-57 Clemson victory. Reggie Lewis put up a whopping 26 points, but he didn't get much help from his team, accounting for almost half of their points by himself. Florida Atlantic fell to 5-5 on the season following an 81-56 loss to the Dayton Flyers, as well. Again, a player put up big points, as Greg Gantt had 26 points for Florida Atlantic, but he didn't get any support.
Bethune-Cook was dominated by Pittsburgh, 89-40, in a game in which top scorer Adrien Coleman had just eight points. They made just 13 of their 43 attempted field goals. Lastly, Stetson fell to Richmond, 76-57. Stetson is now 0-4 on the road.
