Four Miami Dolphins sat out practice Wednesday, according to a tweet from ESPN blogger James Walker. The non-participants included wide receiver Davone Bess (back), linebacker Koa Misi (ankle), cornerback Sean Smith (knee) and defensive tackle Randy Starks (personal). Miami concludes its season on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
While Smith missed practice, the news on his knee was positive Wednesday. Doctors diagnosed him with a knee bruise, according to ESPN. Smith injured his knee in Miami's victory over Buffalo Sunday, and it appeared that the injury could be quite serious. It's unknown at the moment if Smith will play against New England.
Bess has 61 receptions for 778 yards and one touchdown this season. He hasn't played since Miami's December 9 loss to San Francisco. He's second on the team in both receptions and receiving yards.
Misi has recorded 41 tackles for the Dolphins in 2012. He's played mainly in a backup role at outside linebacker.
