For the third straight schedule game, the Mississippi State Bulldogs opened as favorites, this time as 2.5 point favorites over the Northwestern Wildcats in the 2013 Gator Bowl. But it wasn't long until the Bulldogs were on the other side of the line.
According to Odds Shark, the Bulldogs are anywhere from 1 point underdogs to 2 point underdogs across various sports books to No. 20 ranked Northwestern. Meanwhile, the over/under for combined points in the game is currently set at 52.
Mississippi State possesses one of the more stout defensive units in the nation, allowing 22.4 points per game, ranking them 28th in the country. Northwestern's defense is right around that number, too, allowing 22.8 points per game.
The Gator Bowl is scheduled to be played on Jan. 1 at 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. It is the fifth straight year the Wildcats have appeared in the postseason, but haven't won since 1948 in their lone bowl win.
