The Florida Gators are sending four players to the All-SEC Freshman team, tying them for the most representatives of any team in the conference.
Gainesville Sun staff writer Robbie Andreu writes that defensive end Jonathan Bullard, hybrid linebacker/end Dante Fowler, Jr., offensive tackle D.J. Humphries and linebacker Antonio Morrison have all earned nods on the all-conference freshman squad. The fourth-ranked Gators are tied with the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies with four players apiece on the team.
Bullard picked up 26 tackles, including five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks, in his first season with Florida. Fowler amassed 27 tackles of his own, grabbed 1.5 tackles for loss (with one sack) and picked off a pass. Morrison led the trio of defensive rookies with 31 tackles; he had two tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in his freshman campaign. Andreu notes that the four players started a combined eight games for Florida.
