UFC on Fox 5 Results: Edwards and Trujillo Win on Prelims, Giving Florida Fighters a Clean Sweep

American Top Team veteran Yves Edwards and Blackzilians prospect Abel Trujillo earned (T)KO wins on the undercard of the UFC on Fox 5 card.

American Top Team fighter and long time MMA veteran Yves Edwards took to the Octagon against Jeremy Stephens. A fight originally made for a card in Minnesota, it was called off when Stephens was arrested for an outstanding warrant for a street fight in Iowa. The fight was remade for UFC on Fox 5 after Stephens was released and awaiting trail, many questioned if he should be fighting but there was no question about the winner. Stephens came out throwing heavy punches and Edwards caught a very slick counter punch that sent Stephens spinning down to the mat, earning a knockout win.

Blackzilians fighter Abel Trujillo was faced with a very awkward situation when his opponent, Tim Means, slipped in the sauna will cutting weight and injured himself. Marcus LeVesseur was quickly plugged in to take Means' place on extremely short notice. LeVesseur is a very decorated DIII wrestler and came out in the first round looking to grind down Trujillo, who did a very good job fighting off the take downs and landing some body shots.

The highlight of the first round was an excellent knee that the Blackzilian fighter landed towards the end of the first round. In the second round Trujillo took firm control of the match, hurting LeVesseur several times and finally forcing LeVesseur to turtle up. Trujillo rained down knees to the body until the ref stepped in to stop the match.

It was an excellent debut for young Trujillo who showed off good skills and conditioning, making him a prospect to watch at 155 pounds.
