Jets Vs. Lightning Recap: Tampa Bay Winning Streak Ends As Jets Score In Overtime

The Tampa Bay Lightning's five-game winning streak was snapped on Thursday night when the Bolts lost 2-1 to the Winnipeg Jets in overtime. The Jets scored with 1:46 remaining in the overtime period to break the winning streak. Kyle Wellwood buried the game-winning shot, taking a feed from Blake Wheeler and beating Mathieu Garon for the win.

The Bolts pulled even with just over ten minutes remaining in the final period. Victor Hedman notched his third goal of the season, taking an assist from Martin St. Louis. Hedman went streaking into the zone and blasted a rocket past Ondrej Pavelec. It was solid rush by Hedman to convert the two-on-one and even it all up.

But Wellwood was there in overtime to undo Hedman's effort. Tampa Bay now hosts the Florida Panthers on Saturday night, looking to start another streak and continue a push for playoff contention.
