While the Tampa Bay Lightning have made several moves in shipping out veterans like Pavel Kubina and Steve Downie, the front office made a move today to add defensive player Mike Commodore from the Detriot Red Wings according to Bob McKenzie of TSN.

Commodore has only played in 17 games this season with only 2 assists. In his career on six different teams, including New Jersey, Columbus, Carolina, Calgary and Ottawa, Commodore has scored 23 goals with 83 assists. He also has 666 penalty minutes in his career.
The Lightning has been looking for some depth at defense since trading Downie and this trade gives them a hard nosed defenseman that is not afraid to mix things up with opponents. Whether the Lightning can use this acquisition to try and get into the playoffs remain to be seen.
