Maddon-ism Of The Day

Evan Longoria took to twitter and shared a quote that Rays manager Joe Maddon recently used to rally the troops:

"Coming together is the beginning; Keeping together is progress; Working together is success."

Upon quick Google, it seems that Henry Ford said that first – but it's no less inspiring. This is the time of year for slogans in baseball. 2010 gave us the mantra Get The Man In (GTMI), as well as the acronym WIN, and the 2008 slogan was the memorable 9=8, which became the 2008 playoffs t-shirt by majestic.

We have yet to see which slogan Maddon will come up with this year; nevertheless, it’s good to hear about inspiration directly from the players.

In other inspirational quote news, the already controversial Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine has also been busy with motivational messages, having former player quotes painted on the clubhouse walls. Boston beat writer Pete Abraham called it a, "Yankee thing to do." At what point do rivalries become silly?
