The Miami Hurricanes handed the Duke Blue Devils their second ACC loss on Sunday afternoon, winning 78-74 in overtime. It was a huge win for the 'Canes, who continue to build their NCAA tournament resume as the ACC season hits the home stretch.
Reggie Johnson led Miami off the bench, scoring a game-high 27 points Johnson simply had a monster game, hitting 11 of a 17 attempts while also grabbing 12 rebounds against a front line of Plumlees that have had tremendous success in the conference this year. Kenny Kadji also caught fire for Miami, hitting four of five attempts from the behind the arc and chipping in with 15 points.
Miami really blitzed Duke from the outset, and took a double digit lead into the locker room at halftime. Duke stormed back in the second half to chip away at the 14-point deficit and force overtime. But the Canes held on in the extra session, getting a huge upset win for Jim Larranaga.
Now on a four-game winning streak, Miami will host ACC cellar dweller Virginia Tech on Thursday night.
