The Florida Gators will get their third crack at what many consider to be the heavy favorites to win the 2012 NCAA title on Saturday afternoon. Billy Donovan's club was 0-2 against the No. 1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats this season. The Gators held on against Alabama on Friday, eking out a three-point win in the quarterfinals over the Crimson Tide.
The test will undoubtedly be tougher against Big Blue on Saturday. The Gators lost to the Wildcats by 20 and 15 points this season, as the talent of John Calipari's club overwhelmed UF at times. Florida will get one more shot on Saturday, and a win could be pivotal for improved seeding and potentially a favorable site in the first and second rounds next weekend under the NCAA's pod system.
In the second game of the afternoon, No.7 seeded Ole Miss will square off against No. 3 seeded Vanderbilt, who is playing their best basketball of the season. Andy Kennedy's squad will try to continue their run through the tourney and perhaps extend the season into the Big Dance.
