MEAC Championship: Norfolk State Beats Bethune-Cookman 73-70, Clinches First NCAA Birth

The Norfolk State Spartans are going to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history after they beat the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 73-70 in the MEAC Championship. Kyle O'Quinn led the Spartans with 18 points and 7 rebounds while Pendarvis Williams had 17 points and Rob Johnson had 15 points off the bench.

Bethune-Cookman was led by Kevin Dukes who had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Javoris Bryant chipped in with 15 points, and Adrien Coleman added 14 points for the Wildcats.

Norfolk State had a double figure lead for most of the night, but Bethune-Cookman was able to slowly chip at the lead until Garrius Holloman made it a 3 point lead with 19 seconds left. Kyle O'Quinn was called for traveling after catching the inbounds and gave BCU a chance to send it to overtime. But Holloman missed a straight away three-pointer with 7 seconds to go, and Ricky Johnson's last second heave was no where close to the rim and the Spartans were able to escape with their first MEAC Championship.
