NCAA Tournament 2012 Bracket Update: Miami's Bubble Bursts, Left Out Of Dance

The Miami Hurricanes will be headed to the NIT after Jim Larranaga's club was left out of the dance.

Presswire

The 2012 NCAA Tournament bracket and field has been announced, and the Miami Hurricanes are on the outside looking in. The Hurricanes finished the season at 19-12 overall and 9-7 in an ACC that was perceived as weak, and a four or five-big league at best. The ACC did end up getting five teams, with North Carolina State filling the bubble spot from the conference. The Wolfpack's run to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament was a huge boost for their resume while the Hurricanes exited early in the quarterfinals with a loss to eventual champion Florida State.

Jim Larranaga's hopes of making the tournament dimmed significantly during Championship Week, as a host of teams earned automatic berths and crashed the party. In the Sunday morning's edition of SB Nation's Bracketology, the Canes were among the second set of four teams left out, grouped with an Iona team that did sneak into the First Four round.
