The first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament is in the books, and there has been only on upset in an otherwise chalky bracket. Belmont is a heavy favorite to win the conference, with their fast-paced and three-point bombing attack under coach Rick Byrd. The Bruins have represented the Atlantic Sun in four of the past six conference tournaments. They will face No. 4 seed East Tennessee State at 6:00 PM.
The second semifinal game will feature No. 2 seed Mercer against No. 6 seed Florida Gulf Coast. The Eagles upset USC Upstate on Thursday night, shooting 47 percent from behind the arc and putting four players in double figures. Mercer is hosting the tournament this year which will add to the uphill battle Florida Gulf Coast is facing on Friday night.
