The Sony Ericsson Open has begun first round matches from the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Miami. 36 total matches on both the men's and women's sides of the tournament will commence on Wednesday.
On the men's side of the tournament, American James Blake is currently in a first round match with Russian Nikolay Davydenko. After winning the first set 6-4, Blake currently trails in the second set 3-2. Other men's first round winners include Santiago Giraldo, Lukas Rosol, Frederico Gil, Robin Haase, Alejandro Falla and Grigor Dimitrov.
On the women's side of the tournament, Belgian Kim Clijsters dropped her first set to her opponent Jarmila Gajdosova 4-6. Clijsters though came back and dominated Galdosova in the next two sets, 6-1 and 6-0, to win her opening match. Other women's winners include Shahar Peer, Stephanie Foretz Gacon, Iveta Benesova and Sofia Arvidsson.
The tournament runs through March 31 and tickets are still available.
