2012 Sony Ericsson Open Day Seven Update

Day seven of the Sony Ericsson open is underway from Miami. The Men's tournament is still in the third round while the women's tournament is on already to the fourth round of action.

On the Men's side, two matches have gone final in the third round. American Mardy Fish, No. 8 in the world, won his third round match over South African Kevin Anderson in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Frenchman Richard Gasquet, No. 17 in the world, won his match over Spaniard Albert Ramos in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. One other men's match is in progress at the moment with Spaniard Nicolas Almagro, No. 12, leading fellow countryman Fernando Verdasco, No. 20, 6-3, 4-2 during the second set.

On the Women's side, No. 2 Maria Sharapova defeated fellow Russian Ekaterina Makarova 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). No. 7 Marion Bartoli, from France, defeated Russian Maria Kirilenko, No. 22, 6-1, 6-2. One other Women's match is in progress at the moment with American Serena Williams, No. 10, trailing Australian Samantha Stosur, No. 6, midway through the first set 4-3.

Other key matches on tap for today include Roger Federer facing American Andy Roddick on the Men's side. On the Women's side Venus Williams faces No. 15 Ana Ivanovic, No. 1 Victoria Azarenka faces No. 16 Dominika Cibulkova and No. 4 Caroline Wozniacki faces No. 23 Yanina Wickmayer.
